Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data yt-mp3.ws collects, why it is needed, and how long it is kept. We aim to collect as little as possible.
What data is collected
- IP address — used for rate limiting and abuse prevention. It is stored with each conversion job.
- Job metadata — the YouTube URL you submit, the chosen quality, the video title, and the job status. This is required to process your conversion.
- Usage analytics — aggregated, anonymised statistics via Google Analytics (GA4).
IP and rate-limit data
Your IP address is used to enforce per-IP rate limits and concurrent-job limits. It is kept with the job record in our database and is not sold or shared with advertisers.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand overall traffic. Google may set cookies and process this data according to its own privacy policy. Analytics data is aggregated and does not include the contents of your conversions.
Job metadata
The URL, title and settings of each conversion are stored in our database so that status polling and the download step work. Job records are retained for operational purposes; expired jobs are marked accordingly.
Temporary files
Converted MP3 files are stored in cloud object storage for about 24 hours and then deleted automatically. Download links expire after one hour. Intermediate working files are deleted immediately after each job.
Retention
Audio files: about 24 hours. Job records: kept as long as needed for the operation and abuse prevention of the service.
Cookies
The converter itself does not require cookies. Third-party services (Google Analytics, and Ko-fi if you open the donation page) may use their own cookies, governed by their respective policies.
Third-party services
- Cloudflare — infrastructure, DNS and CDN.
- Google Analytics — aggregated usage statistics.
- Ko-fi — voluntary donations.
- Cloudflare R2 — temporary file storage.
User rights
You may contact us at support@yt-mp3.ws with privacy questions or to request deletion of data linked to a conversion you submitted (include the video URL and approximate time). We respond to such requests to the extent technically possible.
